ORIGIN EDITORIAL STANDARD

Useful enough to act on. Careful enough to trust.

ORIGIN publishes educational material to make complex human topics clearer without turning uncertainty into certainty, coaching language into medicine or internal ideas into borrowed authority.

WHY THIS EXISTS

Trust requires visible boundaries.

A useful idea can be scientifically supported, professionally informed, an ORIGIN interpretation or simply coaching language. Those categories are not interchangeable. ORIGIN's editorial system exists to keep the distinction visible.

EVIDENCE CLASSES

Six labels. Different standards.

01

Scientific evidence

Claims supported by research appropriate to the question. Strength depends on study design, consistency, population, relevance and limitations — not on the existence of a citation alone.

02

Professional knowledge

Practice knowledge, established terminology and professional guidance that may be useful even when a single research estimate is not the right frame.

03

ORIGIN interpretation

ORIGIN's synthesis of evidence and professional knowledge. It is labelled as interpretation rather than presented as a scientific finding.

04

ORIGIN-owned method / IP

Original sequences, frameworks, language and implementation systems developed by ORIGIN. Component evidence does not automatically validate the integrated method.

05

Coaching language

Practical language used to support reflection or action. Metaphors and coaching models are not converted into neuroscience or clinical facts.

06

Clinical / medical claim

Claims about diagnosis, treatment, disease, trauma processing, rehabilitation or other clinical outcomes require a stronger evidence and scope review. When that standard is not met, ORIGIN does not make the claim.

SOURCE STANDARD

The source must fit the claim.

ORIGIN prioritises high-quality peer-reviewed evidence and authoritative professional guidance appropriate to the exact question. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are useful when the included evidence is relevant and sufficiently coherent; primary trials matter when causal questions require them; observational evidence is not written as proof of causation.

PREFER

Direct, current, relevant evidence.

Use the most authoritative source that actually supports the wording. Prefer the studied population and outcome rather than generalising from a convenient adjacent result.

QUALIFY

State uncertainty.

Heterogeneity, small samples, self-report, observational designs, short follow-up and population limits are retained when they materially change interpretation.

AVOID

Citation theatre.

A reference beside a sentence does not make an exaggerated claim true. ORIGIN does not use references as decoration for language the source cannot support.

CLAIM REVIEW

Every important claim should survive classification.

Internal review classifies claims as supported, supported with qualification, ORIGIN interpretation, coaching language, insufficient evidence or do not use. Stronger wording requires stronger evidence. When evidence is uncertain, the language becomes more precise — not more dramatic.

CLINICAL BOUNDARY

Education is not diagnosis or treatment.

ORIGIN may publish general education about wellbeing, reflection, movement, breathwork, recovery, behaviour and related topics. Public Knowledge content is not a substitute for medical care, psychotherapy, diagnosis, emergency support or individual professional assessment. Safety and scope override engagement.

AUTHORSHIP & REVIEW

Accountability should be visible.

Knowledge pages identify ORIGIN as publisher and show the editorial lead responsible for the public knowledge system. Editorial responsibility does not imply that every article has received independent specialist or peer review. When external specialist review occurs, ORIGIN should identify it explicitly rather than imply it.

Current editorial lead: Benjamin Brixley. His public professional profile explains the experience and education relevant to ORIGIN's editorial work.

UPDATES & CORRECTIONS

A published page is not frozen.

Knowledge pages carry a review date and may be updated when stronger evidence, clearer wording or a material correction becomes available. Substantive changes update the modified date. If a correction materially changes the meaning of a published claim, ORIGIN should make that correction visible rather than silently preserving a misleading historical impression.

INDEPENDENCE

Evidence does not bend to the product.

ORIGIN's commercial interest in programmes, membership, coaching or products does not change the evidence standard. Evidence that weakens an ORIGIN interpretation should be retained when it is relevant. Safety, accuracy and scope take priority over conversion.

THE OPERATING RULE

Depth before volume.

ORIGIN does not publish one page for every keyword or prompt. A new authority page should solve a real information need, add distinct value, survive evidence review and strengthen the wider knowledge system.
